Back up or move to a new computer

Everything OpenBuddies knows lives in one folder, ~/openbuddies by default. Copying it is the whole backup.

Back up

Section titled “Back up”

Stop OpenBuddies, copy the folder somewhere safe, and start it again:

openbuddies stop
cp -R ~/openbuddies ~/openbuddies-backup
openbuddies start

Move to a new computer

Section titled “Move to a new computer”
  1. Install OpenBuddies on the new computer (see the setup tutorial, but skip init).
  2. Copy the folder across to the same place.
  3. Run openbuddies start.

If you keep the folder somewhere else, point OpenBuddies at it with --home <dir> or the OPENBUDDIES_HOME environment variable.
